Siesta Seen THE VILLAGE ASSOCIATION DISCUSSES KEEPING DUMPSTERS COMPLIANT AND GETTING A SOLID START ON RECYCLING; JULY FOURTH VIP PICNIC PACKAGE TICKET SALES ARE DOWN, BUT THE FIREWORKS SHOW THEY PAY FOR WILL GO ON By Rachel Brown Hackney Editor "Variations on a theme" might be the best way to sum up the primary discussions on Tuesday, July 2, during the monthly meeting of the Siesta Key Village Association. Not only did dumpsters get attention, but focus was renewed on how to handle recyclables in Siesta Village. As noted last week in Siesta Seen, Prudie Varro, the resort manager at Sunsets by the Key — located at 5203 Avenida Navarra — complained recently to the Sarasota County commissioners and county staff about overflowing and improperly situated garbage dumpsters near the inn. Siesta Key Village Association members added bunting to the gazebo at the Canal Road/Ocean Boulevard intersection to mark the July Fourth holiday. Photo by Rachel Hackney
