Photo by Norman Schimmel WHILE THE CITY'S DEVELOPMENT REVIEW COMMITTEE HAS LOTS OF QUESTIONS ABOUT A PROPOSED LIDO COMPLEX, THE GULFSTREAM SARASOTA SEES SMOOTHER SAILING By Stan Zimmerman City Editor Plans for an 18-unit condominium structure on the southern end of Lido Key offered an example on Dec. 4 of why the city's Development Review Committee (DRC) was established. The owner, the architect and their legal representative appeared before the group to respond to questions and comments. The DRC is composed of representatives from every city department, as well as the county Fire Department, that has a say in development. The required number of trees in the landscaping plan, sewer capacity, building regulations, fire suppression requirements and a host of other rules are addressed at one meeting instead of a developer traipsing from office to office.
