It's the perfect word to describe the scene when an avalanche of teddy bears descended from the stands to the ice at Germain Arena in Estero during a hockey game between the Florida Everblades and the Colorado Eagles on Dec. 7. The scoring of the first goal by the home team at 6:51 of the first period was the signal for fans to begin the Teddy Bear Toss. Swampy and other staff members gathered the toys. The benches cleared when players from both teams, including goalies in their pads, joined the effort to clear the ice. Bears were not the only representatives of the animal kingdom.
