The official custodian of St. Armands Circle is stepping aside. On Tuesday, March 11, Marty Rappaport resigned as the chairman of the Business Improvement District (BID), which he helped found 11 years ago. Prior to that, he spent 15 years participating in and leading the St. Armands Commercial L a n d O w n e r s Association, the pre- decessor to the BID. Rappaport will remain a m e m b e r o f t h e board, but he turned over the gavel to board member Gavin Meshad. Rappaport will be vice chairman. Rappaport said he needs to spend more time with his wife, who is in weak health. "I cannot allocate the amount of time this position requires," he told his colleagues.
