A STREET IN PALERMO 2:45 p.m. Saturday, April 5, and 4:15 p.m. Monday, April 7 This Sicilian feature begins with an unusual standoff. There are no guns involved, just two automobiles that meet hood to hood in a nar- row Palermo alley, with drivers who refuse to budge. The trailer has no subtitles, so I have no clue what this film is really about, but the absurdist setup suggests bitter rage and social comedy. MOOD INDIGO 6 p.m. Saturday, April 5, and 7 p.m. Sunday, April 6 Michel Gondry's career has been all over the map, with era-defining triumphs such as Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind to big-budget fare such as The Green Hornet and experimental documentaries such as the Noam Chomsky piece Is the Man Who Is Tall Happy? Mood Indigo seems closest in spirit to Gondry's 2006 feature The Science of Sleep, with its focus on love, its whimsical tone and its surrealist visual touches. A still from Michel Gondry's Mood Indigo. Contributed photo Sarasota News Leader March 14, 2014 Page 92
