According to an agreement between the two
local government bodies, a firm is to be hired
this summer so it can begin operations by
Sept. 1.
The County Commission is expected to
approve a management contract during a spe-
cial meeting scheduled for 9 a.m. on July 18;
the North Port Commission is anticipated to
vote on the bid award during a session prior
to that date.
On March 25, when the County Commission
approved the short-term operation bid offered
by National and State Parks Concessions Inc.,
Vice Chairwoman Christine Robinson told
her colleagues, "I actually unknowingly last
summer visited this vendor in Cades Cove up
