having read a number of his 15 books about
the community.
Robinson said she was honored to have been
asked to write a letter of support for LaHurd's
nomination for the state award. Nonetheless,
she continued, "It was a difficult letter to write
… because how do you encapsulate a career
of … all things Sarasota County?"
Robinson read her letter to the audience
as the other commissioners joined her at
the front of their chambers in the County
Administration Center on Ringling Boulevard
in downtown Sarasota.
"Having lived in the area since 1950," she
began, "Mr. LaHurd is a walking history
book of Sarasota County and an invaluable
resource to the community."
