Florida Gov. Rick Scott on Monday, June 2, signed the state Legislature's $77 billion bud- get. And in the process, he axed $68.9 million of line-item projects, eliminating money for renovations at New College and a young B r a d e n t o n c h a r t e r school that serves low-income families, among other things, while at the same time preserving funding for a new Sarasota County Technical Institute facility in North Port and $5 million for the for-profit IMG Academy. Scott's veto total added up to much less this year than in years past.
