Photo by Cooper Levey-Baker MUSLIM-THEMED HERALD-TRIBUNE AD SPARKS PROTEST By Cooper Levey-Baker Associate Editor An anti-Obama Sarasota Herald-Tribune ad insinuating that the president is a Muslim and will "Force all states to permit same-sex 'marriage,'" among many other inflammatory charges, inspired dozens of Obama supporters to protest outside the newspaper's Main Street headquarters Thursday afternoon, Sept. 27. The ad was paid for by the Government Is Not God political action committee (known as GING-PAC), a right-wing organization found- ed by William Murray in 1992, according to its website. Federal Election Commission re- cords show that the small PAC has negative cash on hand and has worked with the Bran- This ad in Sarasota's daily newspaper on Sept. 23 sparked a protest Thursday after- noon.
