File photo VILLAGE ASSOCIATION MEMBERS ASKED TO WEIGH IN ON PROPOSED CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS By Rachel Brown Hackney Editor Siesta Key Village Association President Rus- sell Matthes is asking members to weigh in on the 11 proposed amendments to the Florida Constitution that will be on the Nov. 6 ballot, following negative comments about one that aired at the SKVA's regular meeting on Oct. 2. Lourdes Ramirez, president of the Sarasota County Council of Neighborhood Associa- tions, told the approximately 25 SKVA mem- bers present that CONA's next meeting, on Oct. 8, will feature a discussion of the amend- ments. That meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the Sarasota Garden Club, 1131 Boulevard of the Arts. New College political science professor Frank Alcock, considered an expert on the amend- ments, and Sarasota County Administra- tor Randall Reid will be the guest speakers, Ramirez added. Because the SKVA board of directors will not meet until Oct. 16, Matthes said, the organiza- tion's members will have time after the CONA discussion to let Matthes know their thoughts on all 11 amendments.
