ARTS BRIEFS Daniel Moe/Contributed EVENSONG TO HONOR CONDUCTOR/COMPOSER DANIEL MOE The Church of the Redeemer, 222 S. Palm Ave. in downtown Sarasota, invites members of the community to its Solemn Evensong on Sun- day, Oct. 21, at 5:15 p.m. in honor of the late Dr. Daniel T. Moe, the church's longtime com- poser-in-residence. Members of the American Guild of Organists and the choirs of the Church of the Redeemer will present Moe's Cantata of Peace for organ John Legend, who was scheduled to play at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall on Friday, Oct. 19, has postponed his upcoming tour to finish work on his new studio album, the Van Wezel has announced. Legend used social media last week to tell his fans his tour would be postponed until 2013, and trumpet (with Andy Kemp, trumpeter); Dr. Richard Storm will provide the narration. Moe's composition of Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis also will be performed. A freewill offering will be accepted to help defray expenses.
