Former Auditor and Clerk Billy Robinson started a public information office in City Hall in 2004 to handle public and press relations. Then-City Manager Mike McNees engaged in a tug-of-war with Robinson over control of the office, but McNees lost the City Commission decision over that battle. Last year the City Commission stripped the city manager of responsibility for information technology (computers and communications). That department was transferred to the CAC's office.
