Sarasota News Leader November 9, 2012 FLORIDA STUDIO THEATRE BOPPING WITH THE WANDERERS Florida Studio Theatre's Goldstein Cabaret is paying tribute to the dreamy harmonies and boyish innocence of pop music's past with Let's Twist Again: with the Wanderers, the new '50s- and '60s-style revue. Let's Twist Again: with the Wanderers high- lights the music of teen heartthrobs such as Dion & the Belmonts, Frankie Valli and The Beach Boys through its evolution into sounds from the Kinks, The Lovin' Spoonful and The Doors. "We created Let's Twist Again by starting with the joyous sounds of the doo wop guy groups," said director Richard Hopkins. "Then we studied the a cappella guy groups that doo wop sprang from ... and specifically those guys in the neighborhood who would stand on the street corner and make up close harmonies to pass the time. Let's Twist Again transcends the '50s and rolls into the next three decades. The influence of those early 'guy groups' is in our music to this day, more than half a century after it evolved." Let's Twist Again: with the Wanderers, de- veloped by Hopkins and Jim Prosser, with additional assistance from Rebecca Hopkins, features an all-male cast of performers who sing, dance and doo-wop their way through a multitude of popular songs. Among the fea- tured numbers are At the Hop, Barbara Ann, Do you Believe in Magic, You've Lost that Lovin' Feelin' and Light My Fire.
