Arguing with these people or insulting them or glaring back would have done nothing except anger them and would have demeaned me and them as human beings. The "dialogue" in this tug of war must address the rights of all citizens to have access to public areas with civil dress and behavior and a sharing of the beauty that is Sarasota. The bayfront is a magnificent space. Governments can enforce dress codes but cannot force civil behavior.
