Sarasota News Leader June 21, 2013 Page 39 ARCHITECTURE DESIGN STUDIO IN THE OFFING The University of Florida plans to create a graduate program in architecture in Sarasota, similar to one in Orlando. Barwin made the announcement during the discussion of formbased codes. "It will be just around the street in about a year," he said. The effort could involve as many as 50 students. It will be housed in the current Sarasota County "print shop" on South Orange Avenue, a building in the Sarasota School of Architecture motif. Local architect Guy Peterson, who is an associate professor at UF, was instrumental in creating the graduate program. % Sarasota City Manager Tom Barwin stands outside City Hall.
