Alfredo Torrella/Contributed photo NEW INITIATIVE NOTIFIES THE PUBLIC OF SEX OFFENDERS/PREDATORS The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office is launching a new initiative to notify residents more publicly of sex offenders and predators who register a local address for the first time the office announced Sept. 5. When a sex offender or predator is released from jail or prison, or moves to a new address, the person must register with the Sarasota County Jail, a news release points out.
