Sarasota News Leader January 3, 2014 More than 100 Newtown residents, community leaders and elected officials gather on Jan. 23 to unveil a new 28-unit affordable housing complex, King Stone Townhomes, bringing to a close a phase of intense redevelopment sparked by a stimulus grant. King Stone replaces a blighted Mediterranean apartment complex on Martin Luther King Jr. Way, just east of Orange Avenue. The cream-colored, two-story construction is a joint project of the Sarasota Housing Authority and the Sarasota Housing Funding Corp., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit affiliated with the Authority.
