In remarks the previous day at a meeting of the Siesta Key Condominium Council, Commissioner Nora Patterson — who lives on Siesta — said of the project, "We're really doing it up big." She explained that the work will be done in phases, "because we can't shut down major portions of the parking [areas]" all at one time. While she added that she felt the overall expense of the project was too high, Patterson noted the improvements will add about 16 percent more parking spaces to the facility. Still, she told the audience of about 50 people, "It's pretty packed now, so I can't say more people will enjoy it."
