J. Robert Parkinson of Siesta Key will be
the guest speaker for Literacy Matters, the
annual luncheon fundraiser of The Literacy
Council of Sarasota, on March 28 at Michael's
on East, the Council has announced.
The event will begin at 11:30 a.m.
Hayley Wielgus, ABC7 news anchor, will be the
mistress of ceremonies, a news release says.
Parkinson has been a writer, executive coach
and educator throughout his professional
career, the release continues. He has worked
in academia, business and government. "His
keen and often humorous insights into every-
day communication have convinced and
challenged audiences to rethink how they
construct and exchange their messages," the
release points out.
Proceeds from the program will benefit
the adult literacy programs of The Literacy
Council, the release notes.
Tickets are $75 per person. Sponsorship lev-
els range from $150 to $5,000.
