George Mazzarantani, a member of and legal counsel for the Sarasota Trap, Skeet and Shooting Clays, was elated with a unanimous Sarasota County Commission vote during the board's Tuesday, March 25, budget workshop. Shooters took to the podium during the pub- lic comments portion of the morning session to voice support for a plan to expand the shooting clay course at Knight Trail Park. And the commissioners backed the plan — voting to give the club $500,000 out of the public Tourist Development Tax (TDT) rev- enue, along with an extension of the club's lease of the county land and an additional 200 acres so the club can add at least two more sporting clay courses and a pavilion.
