The Florida Gulf Coast Small Craft Festival will be held April 18-20 at the Sarasota Sailing Squadron on City Island, organizers have announced. A casual dinner will be held Friday night, April 18, as participants arrive, a news release says, with potluck food as well as a cash grill with hamburgers, hot dogs and sausage. Saturday will feature "the 'mess-about' on Sarasota Bay," as well as the Squadron's pro- tected "lagoon" and the mooring field adjacent to the Squadron, the release notes. Music will be featured. That night, the Squadron will provide dinner to participants "for a nominal fee," the release continues. Among the amenities available at the Squadron for the event will be camping, lim- ited RV options, use of the clubhouse and its bar with snack foods, large porches and meet- ing pavilions. Plenty of launching options are accessible at the Squadron, including beaches, ramps and a hoist, the release points out. Registration is free, but it is required so Squadron management can designate a loca- tion for all the participating craft. The Sarasota Sailing Squadron is located in Ken Thompson Park on City Island, near the north end of Lido Key.
