She added, "You do the best you can to create
a balancing act" between residents and the
needs of businesses.
However, board Vice Chairwoman Christine
Robinson said she would consider increas-
ing the fine if the Sheriff's Office provided the
County Commission with information indi-
cating that would ameliorate the situation.
"I would want to make sure that's the issue,"
she said of Shay's concern that the fine is too
low to stop repeat offenders. She agreed that
someone with multiple citations should be
aware of the cost of a ticket.
Still, Robinson pointed out, "Most people
don't know what the fines are."
