Curt Lee Rud, 29, of 988 Euclid Ave., Venice, has been charged with Leaving the Scene of a Crash with Death and Driving with a Suspended License with Knowledge in con- nection with the collision of his Dodge Avenger and a Yellow Cab taxi about 2 a.m. Saturday, May 24, in Sarasota that resulted in one death, the Sarasota Police Department has reported. Additional charges for Rud are possible based on the outcome of a continuing investigation, a news release says. James M. Elias, 51, of Acushnet, MA, died at Blake Medical Center in Bradenton as a result of injuries sustained in the crash, the release adds.
