before the County Commission for adoption. "We can probably iron out some language that can get to what their main concern is." Commissioner Nora Patterson called atten- tion to the financing section of the plan, which says the county could offer short-term leniency on property tax payments to allevi- ate homeowners' financial burdens during the recovery period. The PDRP also proposes the option of a temporary repeal of the Tourism Development Tax as a potential means of assistance. Patterson did say she had not completed her review of the PDRP, having read 90 of the 112 pages. "In the next few days I will finish read- ing it." Still, she continued, "I really winced when I saw [those sections]. … A commission is going to be hard put to live without income sources, when they are probably really needed for the public good." She added, "It's going to be a time when peo- ple want infrastructure repaired as quickly as possible." The commissioners will also probably want access to tourism development funding so they can "try to invest in ways to bring tour- ism back," Patterson pointed out. % "Generosity is not giving me that which I need more than you do, but it is giving me that which you need more than I do." — Kahlil Gibran THE SARASOTA News Leader Old school journalism. 21st century delivery.
