With the July Fourth holiday approaching,
illegal fireworks was a topic of consider-
able discussion during the June 5 Siesta Key
Association (SKA) meeting.
"If it flies or explodes, it's illegal," explained
Deputy Chris McGregor of the Sarasota
County Sheriff's Office.
Each year on the Fourth, he continued, depu-
ties find people on the island who have spent
thousands of dollars on fireworks that are
illegal, and the Sheriff's Office confiscates the
materials.
