A team of assessors from the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation (CFA) will arrive Tuesday, Aug. 12, to exam- ine all aspects of the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office, including policies, management, operations and support services, the office has announced. The assessment team's verification that the agency meets the Commission's approxi- mately 260 standards is part of a voluntary process for becoming re-accredited, which occurs every three years, a news release explains. The assessors will review written materials, interview individuals and visit places where compliance can be witnessed. As part of the on-site assessment, agency members and the general public are invited to offer comments about the ability of the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office to meet CFA standards. Comments may be submitted to CFA, P.O. Box 1489, Tallahassee, FL, 32302 or emailed to info@flaccreditation.org. A copy of the standards is available through the Office of Professional Standards, located at 2071 Ringling Blvd. in Sarasota. The local contact is Lt.
