Photo by Roger Drouin AFTER THREE YEARS OF INACTION ON THE FRUITVILLE INITIATIVE, COUNTY COMMISSIONERS SAY THEY WANT TO SEE PROGRESS ON THE PLAN By Roger Drouin County Editor After nearly three years at a standstill, Sarasota County's Fruitville Initiative — which would implement a form-based code for 320 acres of vacant land east of Interstate 75 — is on track to move ahead in two phases over the next few months, county staff told the County Commission Wednesday, Aug. 28. "The county really has an opportunity to be a catalyst in future development in this area," said Beth Rozansky, the county's project manager on the Initiative.
