cover the sanctioning fees. "I know what the intent was [with the county agreement]." Robinson made a second motion, which also passed without dissent, calling for County Administrator Tom Harmer and the Office of the County Attorney to seek clarification of the language regarding sanctioning fees in the agreement for coming years, as well as any other adjustments considered appropriate. Brown quickly responded that such action already was planned. PAST AND PRESENT On March 19, 2013, Nicandri stood before the commissioners to say the organization was desperate to cover the expense of the upcom- ing festival. A day later, Suncoast Charities' board set the date of April 5 to decide whether it could move forward. Although Barbetta argued that the commis- sion should award the nonprofit the $79,200 it was seeking, in addition to a $10,000 grant the county already had awarded Suncoast, the board voted 3-2 on March 19 in opposition to his motion. Only then-Chairwoman Carolyn Mason supported Barbetta. On April 9, 2013, Commissioner Charles Hines raised the topic again, and Robinson explained she had spoken with Nicandri and Suncoast board President Jack Cox after the Sarasota County Commission Vice Chairwoman Christine Robinson.
