Organizers of the Sarasota Bay Water Festival
are encouraging photography enthusiasts of
all ages to prepare entries for the 2014 I Love
Sarasota Bay Photo Contest.
The winning submissions in the four age divi-
sions will be displayed at the free festival on
Saturday, Nov. 1, at Ken Thompson Park, a
news release points out. Contest guidelines
are posted on the festival website.
The 2013 winners were Terry Frankford, Sally
Twinem, Logan McLeod, Emma Griffin, Karl
Ford, Larry George, Francis Twinem, Judith
Horn, Caroline Griffin, Michael Oelschlager,
Judy Sargent, and Julie Doyle, the release
notes. All of them are area residents, it adds.
"The Sarasota Bay Water Festival celebrates
the importance of Sarasota Bay to the region's
environment, economy and quality of life," the
release says. Along with the photography con-
test, the event will include live music, dragon
boat races, panel discussions focused on bay-
friendly living, delectable edibles offered by
food trucks and local restaurants, activities
for children, displays of vintage boats and
hands-on exhibits promoting recreational
boating, fishing, kayaking, paddleboarding
and scuba diving.
New for the 2014 festival will be a Pet Zone
featuring a selection of pet-friendly exhibitors
selling products and services and an after-
party at Circus City Architectural Salvage.
The adult party, which will run from 7 p.m.
until midnight, will feature live music and
an original "aqua-garde" fashion show with
unique fashions made entirely of plastic, the
release points out. The after-party and fash-
ion show will benefit Save Our Seabirds and
Sea to Shore Alliance, the release adds.
