DiPino took the podium to answer questions. "I absolutely accept this position," she said.
DiPino will begin work on Jan. 1, 2013. Cur- rent Chief Mikel Hollaway agreed to extend his tenure to Dec. 31, from Oct. 31.

making the selection. Of note is the fact that African-American women were finalists for both the police chief and city manager jobs.
DiPino matched Barwin's credentials: young enough for a full tour of duty before retire- ment, ready to step up to a larger community and more responsibility and having total inde- pendence from local affiliations.
Lewis could not be reached for comment. He and his wife are cruising the South Pacific.
