Sarasota County lifeguard Robert Martini knows what it is like to be homeless. "You can be at the bottom and bring yourself all the way back up," he told me this week. To convey that message to the youngsters at the YMCA Youth Shelter, he recruited anoth- er county lifeguard, Brad Ward, to join him in a 24-hour paddleboard fundraiser over the weekend to raise funds for the shelter.
