Art Center Sarasota will present the sixth annual iconcept runway event on March 28 at Sarasota Municipal Auditorium, located at 801 N. Tamiami Trail in Sarasota, the gallery has announced. Lorenzo Hubbard, an award-winning Miami designer and public personality, will return to host this year's event, which will feature a runway fashion show of original ensembles created by area artists and designers espe- cially for iconcept, a news release points out. A dinner, a boutique and a performance by Fuzión Dance Artists will be part of the fes- tivities, the release adds. Doors will open at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. and the fashion show at 8 p.m. Tickets for the dinner seating are $125, and they include wine. General admission will open at 7:30 p.m. with those tickets priced at $45, including the runway show and a des- sert bar. Advance sales for tables of 10 and single din- ner seats are available as well. Funds raised by this event benefit Art Center Sarasota's youth art education programs. "For six years, Art Center Sarasota's icon- cept team has challenged area artists to create ensembles from unexpected and non-traditional materials," the release con- tinues. "The results have been nothing less than extraordinary." Lisa Berger, Art Center Sarasota's executive director and the founder of iconcept, says in the release, "These artists never fail to amaze us; their ingenuity, originality and wit have made this one of the season's most colorful and anticipated events." Among this year's highlights will be Cathy Comora's BRAdal Gown, constructed with actual bras; Andrea Silvergleit's Regular Fashion for Regular People, made from Activia containers; Sharon White's No More Wire Hangers; and Jim Stewart's Calendar Girl, made from recycled Art Center calen- dars, the release notes. Prizes will be awarded once again for the "most unique" guest ensembles, the release adds. According to Berger, iconcept has become a vital fundraiser and awareness builder for Art Center Sarasota For information and reservations, call 365- 2032 or visit artsarasota.org/iconcept.
