The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office is asking the public to help name its newest Mounted Patrol horse, a 10-year old American Warm Blood gelding. The "horse with no name" is 17.2 hands tall; he was donated by Terry and Darlene Geiser of Ocala, a news release explains. Four options are being posted on the agen- cy's Facebook page, and residents are being invited to vote for their favorite between now and the end of March. Possible names are Colonel, Recruit, Pursuit or Honor, the release adds. The "horse with no name" is already patrolling Siesta Key Beach and other areas of the county during spring break operations, alongside his hoofed colleagues Patriot, Major, Liberty, Legacy, Sentinel, Valor, Justice and Charlie, the release notes. The winning selection will be announced in April. The Facebook page address is facebook.com/ SarasotaCountySheriff. To go directly to the voting app, click here.
