The county's Real Estate Department con- tacted various other departments, Harriott continued, but only the Parks and Recreation staff had any interest in the parcel, and that was because of the proximity of the property to Siesta Public Beach. However, Harriott noted, even at $808,500, staff felt the price was too high. As it turns out, the actual price is $2 mil- lion, the listing agent advised staff during the review, Harriott continued. The earlier figure was from 2006. He added, "The last appraisal was completed in 2006 for $1.3 million."
