The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office has arrested a homeless couple found mak- ing meth at their campsite on public library grounds, the office has announced. Narcotics detectives received information that a man was manufacturing methamphet- amine near the Jacaranda Library, located at 4143 Woodmere Park Blvd. in Venice, a news release says. An undercover detective walked the property on June 9 and saw a woman sit- ting on a mattress, the release continues. As he continued his surveillance, the release adds, a man rode up on his bicycle, removed several items from his backpack and began mixing liquids. The detective recognized the materi- als as those commonly used to manufacture meth, according to the report. Because of "the inherent hazard of [that operation] and the risk to citizens at this location, deputies took the suspects into custody," the release points out. While they remained on the library grounds, the report says, deputies spotted numer- ous substances and objects used in the TWO ARRESTED FOR ALLEGEDLY MAKING METH ON LIBRARY GROUNDS Materials used to make meth were found on the Jacaranda Library grounds in Venice this week, the Sheriff's Office reported.
