Welcome to the latest edition of The Sarasota News Leader. We are most appreciative of the comments we are continuing to receive from readers. Thanks to some of them, you will see more tweaks this week to our Table of Contents. We want to make it as easy as possible for you, when you first open the publication, to zero in on the stories that interest you the most. However, we also want to make it easier for you to get a sense of what we are featuring this week as our top stories. Beginning with this, our fourth full digital edition, we are adding a new section to summarize the top news articles of the week. One day, we may move closer to the design employed by The Economist, which offers a wonderful recap of the previous week's events — in general as well as business news. I have a sneaking suspicion The Economist has a larger staff than we do at present — either that or it makes good use of the unpaid internship model Comedy Central pundit Stephen Colbert loves to tout on his show. This week I also want to put the spotlight on Norman Schimmel, our very generous, gifted and widely roaming photographer. Many readers will recall when Norm started sending his gorgeous photos to the Pelican Press about four years ago. It never ceases to amaze me how many people recognize him around town. I once followed him out of a Sarasota County Commission meeting and saw a number of peo- ple I didn't recognize pass by him saying, "Hi, Norm." Ever ready to build upon his portfolio, Norm last week sought the help of the staff at The Regency House in downtown Sarasota to gain access to the building's roof. One result of that photo shoot is on our cover this week. Our deepest thanks go to Jerry Koenke, the general manager of The Regency House, for his hospitality and assistance.
