Sarasota News Leader June 21, 2013 Page 57 BUSINESS OWNER ARRESTED IN GRAND THEFT CASE The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office has arrested Matthew Nemeth, 39, of 11516 Sweetflag Drive, Bradenton — a business owner who allegedly took thousands of dollars from a customer but never performed the work he was hired to do, the department has reported. The victim contacted Atmospheres Kitchen and Bath Artistry on North Washington Boulevard in Sarasota in December 2012 to renovate her kitchen countertops, the report says. After receiving a written estimate, the woman signed a contract with the company and gave Nemeth a check in the amount of $6,000 for partial payment, the report continues. Work never began, the report adds, and after numerous failed attempts to contact Nemeth or to obtain a refund of her $6,000, the victim contacted the Sheriff's Office. Detectives arrested Nemeth on June 13 and charged him with Grand Theft. He was released after posting $20,000 bond.
