RELIGION BRIEFS The Women's Interfaith Network and the Center for Religious Tolerance will host a program on June 22 at the North Sarasota Library, located at 2801 Newtown Blvd. Photo by Norman Schimmel ELIMINATING VIOLENCE AGAINST KENYAN WOMEN TOPIC OF PROGRAM The Women's Interfaith Network of Sarasota/Bradenton and the Center for Religious Tolerance will present Stories of Hope from Three Generations — Eliminating Violence Against Women In Kenya on Saturday, June 22, from 10 a.m. to noon at the North Sarasota Library, 2801 Newtown Blvd., Sarasota. The featured speakers will be Marcella Moraa; her daughter, Jackie Ogega; and Ogega's daughter, Norah Moturi, the organizations have announced. The women will be discussing Obogima, a Kisii term meaning "the dignity of life," a news release says. "Through [Obogima] women of faith gather weekly in a rural village in southwestern Kenya to tell their stories of pain and violence and share their hope for healing their trauma and reclaiming their inherent dignity," the news release adds. The program is free and open to the public.
