In the early 1900s, naturalist Mary Francis
Baker ran across orchids while gathering
material for her book, Florida Wild Flowers.
"The very word orchid calls up suggestions of
grace and of grotesqueness, of strange beauty
and uncanny mimicry. In extravagant variety
of form the flowers rival all others," she wrote.
Thankful to find them at Jelks, we are
charmed by their "grace" on this beautiful day
in June. %
