community between the children, teach- ers and the families," Irvin continued in the release. "At the end of the hour together each Sunday morning, notes are provided for par- ents that summarize the morning's activities and offer suggestions of things to do together as an extension of the class," he added. "An important part of the UUCS's value sys- tem is that each individual can help make a difference in the world, and so throughout the year, children engage in several social jus- tice projects," the release points out. "These projects are often coordinated with the larger church community," while at other times, "the children and youth create social justice activ- ities on their own, it notes. To accommodate and encourage growth in the religious education program, the church recently upgraded its classrooms and nursery, the release says. "The refurbished nursery is a secure and happy place where infants and toddlers are cared for while their parents attend the church service," it adds. "Those parents who wish to remain with their infants in the nursery are invited to relax" in rocking chairs. "Finally, all teachers have successfully completed a background screening process," the release continues. Separate programs are tailored to various age groups, the release points out: infants and toddlers; children in pre-K through kin- dergarten; first- and second-graders; students in third through fifth grades; middle school youth; high school students; and people ages 12-20.
