Bob's Boathouse, the "diverging diamond" interchange, Warm Mineral Springs, Dolphin Tower, the opposition to dredging Big Pass, a possibility that paid parking could come back to down- town Sarasota — yes, I bet that last one caught your eye! And I feel as though I have been keeping company with Yogi Berra this week. The parking issue is one that has come and gone many times, but leave it to City Editor Stan Zimmerman to revive the subject. Thank goodness he is willing to sit through so many city advisory board meetings. On the "new" front this week, County Editor Roger Drouin heard quite a bit about the local passion for shooting clays, just before the County Commission voted to provide funding assistance to a community club with plans to boost tourism. Associate Editor Cooper Levey-Baker offers something old and something new: a follow-up on an arson case in Nokomis last year and an en- gaging interview with Mark Schneider, a board member of the Florida chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union, about Sharia law. Schnei- der is coming to town for the Sarasota ACLU chapter's annual meeting on March 29. I would be remiss if I did not encourage you to read Copy Editor Vicki Chatley's account of Leon Panetta's Ringling Town Hall lecture last week. No matter how many other arti- cles I read about those programs, I find Vicki offers thoughtful tidbits other writers miss. Finally, look for Fran Palmeri's opening sto- ry in a new "Florida A to Z" series. Who knew alligators could be so much fun! Editor and Publisher WELCOME
