Real estate agents, landlords, property man-
agers, architects, builders of multi-family
complexes, permitting officials and all com-
munity members are invited to attend one of
two free Fair Housing seminars scheduled for
Thursday, April 24, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and
from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the 11th floor confer-
ence room at 1515 Ringling Blvd. (Northern
Trust Bank Building) in Sarasota, the county
has announced.
The seminars, sponsored by the Sarasota Office
of Housing and Community Development,
will feature a variety of topics, a news release
notes.
The morning seminar will focus on provid-
ing attendees with a description of the Fair
Housing Act, what the act requires along
with tips for avoiding liability and developing
best practices. It also will feature a ques-
tion-and-answer session with subject matter
experts, the release explains. "This seminar is
tailored for real estate agents, landlords and
property managers," the release adds.
The afternoon session, which is geared for
permitting officials, architects and builders
of multi-family dwellings, will cover common
Fair Housing Act violations and how to avoid
them, as well as seven design requirements;
it will include a question-and-answer session,
too, with subject matter experts.
