We an- nounced the dates before we'd finished the album because we were sure we'd finish the album in time. But, unfortunately, while the creative process has been excit- ing and I'm pretty certain we're going to The Players Theatre, Sarasota's award-win- ning community-based production company, has announced that Joanna Brown of Sarasota has agreed to serve as honorary chairwoman for "A Night to Remember" on Saturday, Nov. 3, at Michael's On East. "A Night to Remember" will combine a din- ner party and entertainment to benefit the the- atre, a news release notes. During the evening, The Players will honor "some of the pioneers who gave life to their stage" during the theatre group's first 60 years, the news release adds. The Players began with a season of one-act plays in 1930. Artistic Director Jeffery Kin says in the news re- lease, "Joanna is a perfect example of The Players impact on the people in our community." There, she performed with The Riv- erside Shakespeare Co., The Shaw Project and Oa- sis Theatre Co.; appeared in films and commercials; and did voiceovers, books on tape and radio for 21 years, until health issues dictated that she retire, the release adds.
