Belle Canto, an all women's vocal ensem- ble that performs everything from Bach to Broadway, will turn its attention to another "Big B" in a program titled Belles Sing the Blues on Feb. 16, the group has announced. Belle Canto will present its next concert at 8 p.m. at The Glenridge Performing Arts Center (GPAC) on Palmer Ranch, located at 7333 Scotland Way in Sarasota. "Think Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday, and what comes to mind is some of the best in jazz and blues," a news release says. The concert will feature such favorites as Satin Doll, Georgia on My Mind, Skylark and How High the Moon, the release adds. Belle Canto will be joined by professional jazz musicians Johnny Moore on drums, Dominic Mancini on bass and Tommy Goodman on piano, along with Jonathan Spivey, "to present cool, red hot blues," the release points out. "Belle Canto, is an intimate ensemble under the direction of Elizabeth Goldstein," the release adds. It prides itself "on presenting music of the highest caliber," the release continues.
