Welcome to our second edition of the complete digital edition of The Sarasota News Leader. We want to thank all the readers who provided comments about our inaugural edition on Sept. 21. Yes, we still have some bugs to work out — and you'll see some style changes evolve over the coming weeks. Nonetheless, our focus is going to remain on providing you the most comprehensive coverage possible of local news and the arts and entertainment scene in Sarasota County. Speaking of working out the bugs … It appears that more than a few of us (including yours truly) are not as patient as we should be when it comes to reading directions. The technology we are using does allow readers to email story links and even print pages, for example. Taking a few minutes to peruse the directions we provide on how to navigate the publication can prove quite helpful, as fellow staff members reminded me. It also is my pleasure this week to welcome aboard two new staff members. Scott Proffitt not only has a last name well-known in the Sarasota journalism community, he also has a passion for writing. After graduating from the University of Florida and working in a variety of fields, Scott owned the Main Bookshop in down- town Sarasota for 20 years. Since then he's written for the Sarasota Herald-Tribune and the Pelican Press. Scott will be covering the Saraso- ta County School Board Scott Proffitt and offering assistance with our coverage of interesting people, places and things. We also are delighted to have Vicki Chatley lend us her keen eye and astute judgments as our copy editor. (Any mistakes here on out will be attributable solely to our failure to pay full attention to her notes.) We hope you will continue to give us your thoughts as we shape The Sarasota News Leader. With warmest regards, Editor and Publisher
