"We have not heard any more from them," Lori Ann Carroll said. In a Sept. 21 email to the County Commission, Carroll provided a project update, saying the drilling rig for the directional bore was on- site at The Pointe Condominium complex on south Siesta Key that day, in preparation for the horizontal drilling under Little Sarasota Bay. The drilling began Sept. 22, she told the News Leader. It was expected to continue for ap- proximately two weeks, including weekends, Carroll reported in the Sept. 21 email.
