Photo by Norman Schimmel COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR CONTINUES REORGANIZATION OF STAFF, WITH HARRIOTT NAMED CHIEF ENGINEER By Rachel Brown Hackney Editor As he had indicated he would in late August, Sarasota County Administrator Randall Reid this week announced a staffing reorganization that includes naming Public Works Director James K. Harriott Jr. as chief engineer in lead- ing the new Capital Assets Group, effective Oct. 1. In an email he sent to the County Commission on Sept. 24, Reid also announced the volun- tary resignation of Environmental Utilities Director Theresa Connor, who has been crit- icized by commissioners for her handling of various matters over the past few months. The email said Connor would be pursuing "other professional opportunities, effective Nov. 16." Until then, Reid wrote, she would assist the new Capital Assets Group with its transition. In late June, commissioners voiced frustration with Connor's lack of clarity in what she was seeking from the board during a presentation on the county's stormwater systems; that led to Reid's mildly rebuking Connor during the meeting.
