Sarasota News Leader September 28, 2012 COUNTY LIBRARIES OFFERING FREE WEBINARS TO THE PUBLIC Are you interested in exploring your family history, but you don't know where to begin? Have you just unpacked your new e-book reader and are eager to try it out? The Sarasota County Library System will of- fer a series of free live webinars that will ad- dress these topics and many more. Following the live presentations, the webinars will be archived for convenient viewing during the following year, a county news release says. They will be accessible from any location. Library card holders can access and regis- ter for the webinars from the library website, http://sclibs.net/webinars.aspx. Classes may be viewed on any personal computer — at home, in the office or at a patron computer in a library. On Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 11 a.m., "Genealogy Orienteering" will feature strategies for using maps in research. A variety of other resources are available for genealogists through the libraries, including books, videos, databases and research assis- tance. The next four webinars will offer help with the latest technology trends and gadgets. Among future webinars will be the following: • Hottest Tech Toys for the Holiday Season on Dec. 12 • E-Book Readers 101 on Jan. 8 • The Best Apps for Your Tablet on Jan. 16 • Advanced E-Book Readers on Jan. 24 • The ABC's of Small Business Ownership on Feb. 4 Library patrons are invited to join the live webinars then view the archived sessions fre- quently throughout the following 12 months, the news release says.
