The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office has arrested two 17-year-olds for burglarizing 11 vehicles near Bee Ridge and McIntosh roads early Thursday morning, Jan. 30, the office has reported. Deputies investigating the alleged crimes on Parnell Drive, North and South Taggart Cay and Busti Drive located a cell phone that did not belong to any of the victims, a news release says. They determined the phone belonged to Cody Salmon and made contact with him and Mackenzie Dailing outside Dailing's home at 4828 Lahania Drive in Sarasota, the release adds. Salmon was carrying a backpack with two camouflage Ghillie suits, the release notes. Both teens admitted to the burglaries, and Dailing's mother directed deputies to numerous car audio components and other electronics that she had found in the teen's room, the release says. All stolen property was recovered and returned to the victims, it notes. Dailing was charged with 11 counts of Burglary of an Unoccupied Vehicle, while Salmon, whose address is 1010 Bacon Ave., Sarasota, was charged with 11 counts of Burglary to an Unoccupied Conveyance. Dailing also was charged with Violation of Probation, because he was on probation for a charge of Grand Theft when the burglaries occurred, the report says.
