SCOPE, a nonprofit community engagement organization, invites residents of Sarasota County to participate in the nomination pro- cess for its annual Boundary Crosser Award. "Each year SCOPE recognizes an outstanding citizen who resides and builds community in Sarasota County," said John McCarthy, exec- utive director of SCOPE, in a news release. "This year, the board of directors has decided to expand the nomination by seeking sug- gestions from citizens as well as input from former Boundary Crossers." The Boundary Crosser Award is unique in the region, the release notes. It "recognizes an individual who forges connections by cross- ing traditional barriers to create a better community." SCOPE has developed a simple online survey for nominations, which will be open for sub- missions through Feb. 14, the release points out. SCOPE invites the public to nominate an individual who does the following: • Is engaged in non-traditional partnerships and relationships that are making a posi- tive difference in the community. • Builds collaborations without a personal agenda. • Inspires others to get involved in the community. • Creates positive change in the community while demonstrating integrity, fairness and open-mindedness. Nominations for the 2014 Boundary Crosser Award may be submitted at the following link: scopexcel.org/boundary-crosser-award. html. A committee will review all of the nomi- nations and select the 2014 SCOPE Boundary Crosser, who will be recognized at SCOPE's 2014 Annual Celebration in September, the release says.
